Foods that can help your Arthritis

salad.jpg I’m studying to become a Certified Medical Assistant, so anything that has to do with improving health and quality of life is important to me. Upon doing a bit of online research on some Arthritis topics, I came across information about foods that can help alleviate joint inflammation (Arthritis). Arthritis is a debilitating condition of the joints, weakening the bones and increasing potential for impaired mobility, falls and fractures. But, just like a good physical activity program can help keep bones and joints strong and healthy, nutrition also plays an important role.

According to the Arthritis Foundation (n.d.), these foods are not a cookie-cutter diet to remedy the condition, but they do help in strengthening the bones and boosting the immune system.

  • Fish, like salmon and tuna, contain Omega-3 fatty acids that work as anti-inflammatories.
  • Soy also works as an anti-inflammatory. Try tofu or edamame!
  • Extra virgin olive oil, avocado and safflower are awesome for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
  • Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries all help in the preventing of gout attacks.
